Turn any site into a smart intrusion alarm with a GSM security gateway

connixadmin

Many places that need protection have no reliable internet: a warehouse on the outskirts, a pump house, a farm shed, a telecom shelter, a construction site, or a shop that is empty at night. Most of them still have mobile network coverage.

The Connix SecureX G100 is a compact security gateway that runs on the GSM network. Insert a SIM, connect your sensors and your hooter or light, and the site can alert you and respond to you by SMS.

What it does

  • Detects: two digital inputs (IP1, IP2) accept dry-contact signals such as door or window contacts, PIR motion sensors, vibration sensors, panic buttons or limit switches.
  • Alerts: when an input triggers, the G100 sends an SMS to your phone, so you know within seconds that something has happened.
  • Acts: two relay outputs (OP1, OP2) with COM and NO contacts can switch a hooter, a floodlight, a beacon or any other device within the relay's rating.
  • Obeys: you can send an SMS to turn a relay on or off from anywhere, for example switching on the yard lights remotely or silencing the siren after a false alarm.

A typical setup: a smart intrusion alarm

  1. Connect a door contact or PIR sensor to IP1.
  2. Connect a hooter to OP1 and a floodlight to OP2.
  3. Power the unit from a 12 V supply and insert a SIM card.
  4. If the sensor trips, the hooter sounds, the light comes on and you get an SMS.

You can also use the inputs for other things, such as a mains-failure signal, a tamper switch or a water-level alarm. The same two-in, two-out structure works for many small automation and monitoring jobs.

Built for real installations

  • DIN-rail enclosure with screw terminals, suited to control panels and electrical boxes
  • Front-panel indicators for GSM antenna, power, network, communication and SIM status
  • External GSM antenna connector, which helps in low-signal locations
  • Designed and built in-house by Connix in Gandhinagar, India

We first built the SecureX G100 for a customer with a specific requirement, and the first batch has now been delivered. Because it needs only a SIM card and basic wiring, it also works as a general-purpose security device for homes, shops, factories and remote sites.
